CLAW & WARDER is a new series I've been working on since the beginning of the year, though it came to me during the first visit by the Hip Fairy last spring (in case you missed it, I had two instances of avascular necrosis of the femoral head last year, one in each hip, one in the spring and one in the fall). Supergirl and I were thrashing around trying to figure out what we could do that didn't involve  me actually moving, and decided we'd pick up the LAW & ORDER boxed set as we've always loved the show. At the time, I was heavily medicated with both anti-spasm and pain meds (I do not remember February at all and only part of November), and while watching Lenny Briscoe dazzle the world, I had these strange thoughts.

Thoughts like:

• What if Lenny was a werewolf?
• Oh! Oh! What if Lenny was a Hassidic werewolf and the werewolf was the religious one?
• What if that guy had been killed by a succubus? How would Lenny find the killer?
• What if S. Epatha Merkerson's character was a ghost?
• Oh! Oh! What if, instead of Van Buren, she was the ghost of a Van Helsing and Lenny's partner was half-demon, half-vampire? Wouldn't that be fun?

Like I said, I was heavily medicated.

I became a little obsessed with these ideas and set out to see if I could write a television show into a novel (that turned out to be easy, thanks to the strict adherence to story structure employed by the producers and writers of the show).
