No News
September 27, 2018
Erik and I used to watch cable news in the mornings or during lunch. When we got rid of cable, we found that we didn’t miss the news at all. Especially cable news with the 12 people yelling at each other and more opinions than news. I don’t remember exactly when we got rid of cable, but it has been at least a few years, and nowadays Erik avoids the news almost entirely. He found that it caused undue stress, which aggravates his RA. I still read the news on my phone but never watch videos of people yelling their opinions at each other. We occasionally talk about what is going on in the news, but he prefers to not discuss it, so I respect that (well, mostly ????). We have found that not knowing everything that is happening every single day doesn’t impact our lives in the least.
* the image on this post is from an SNL skit making fun of cable news and all of their on-screen banners, which in the skit, eventually covered the anchors entirely. If you want to see it: https://www.nbc.com/saturday-night-live/video/news-force/2870456

About Hank and Jane IRL
I asked Supergirl if she would write a few blog posts about our real lives. We’re calling it Hank and Jane IRL, and if you don’t get the Hank and Jane reference, you need to read the Blood of the Isir series. 🙂
